Gratitude and God’s Blessings: Transforming Daily Work

One small improvement that I’m working on is my attitude towards my day to day activities. Sometimes, I can get caught up into the routine of going into work everyday and forget that this job started as a prayer. I was without a job for months before having this job. When I got this job I knew it was from God, but now that it’s almost been a year and I have gotten caught up in the routine.

I now have to remind myself that this job is a blessing from God. When I think about that, it makes me look at it differently. It’s Monday, I get to put on some cute clothes and go to work, laugh with coworkers, and speak with customers. When we remember the source of our daily blessings, we treat them differently.

²³ And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;²⁴ Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24

When we remember that God does everything with purpose, we walk around our places of business knowing that there is a purpose. So, as you get up and step out into the world, or log on to your computer, remember that there is a reason you’re there even if you don’t know yet.

Let’s not make Monday a funeral. We get to get up and go work, some people are not able to do either. If you think no one notices your hard work, God does. He sees you. Your life should never revolve around impressing people.

¹⁷ Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. James 1:17

So don’t get exhausted by doing what is good, thinking that you are not seen. Everything you do matters to God. Be encouraged on this Monday knowing that God is with you.
