Unlock Your Potential: Harnessing Mindset for Spiritual and Physical Triumph

Daily writing prompt
What are you good at?

I believe that we sometimes limit our ability to be good at something by our beliefs. You can only go as far as your mind will allow you to. I remember being in the Marine Corps and we would go on runs every morning. After mile two, I would start to slow down because normally I was one of the only females on the run. I would say to my sergeant, “I can’t do this.” He would always tell me to push myself and it’s all in my head. If I’m being real, he was right. It was always in my head. I would focus on the pain I was feeling in my body and allow it to overtake me.

So, one day I went on a ten-mile run and I didn’t stop the entire run. This run was different though. This run was different because I embraced the pain. I didn’t allow the pain to take over my mind, I focused on different things as I ran. I allowed my mind to explore and in return, my mind allowed my body to keep going.

I believe this same principle is important in a spiritual aspect. We can’t allow our thoughts to make our circumstances bigger than our God. Like my sergeant used to tell me, it’s all in your head. Change your focus. If you focus on God and not your problems, you’ll get through them with your peace intact. Once you get through them, you’ll have more strength and endurance for the next one.

I believe that through Christ we can do all things. Whether its a ten-mile run, or eighteen years of co-parenting. So, we have the ability to be good at everything God puts in front of us.
