What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life?
I don’t live a comfortable life. I live a blessed life. It’s hard to explain if I’m being honest. I chose to pick up my cross and follow Jesus. I choose to die daily to the things that once made me comfortable.
I grew up in an environment were I had to protect myself against people that were looking to hurt me. Back then, either fighting or cursing them out made me feel comfortable. Or just being defensive in general brought me comfort.
I now depend on God to defend my honor. I trust Him to get back the people who hurt me. Not only that, but I pray for those who hurt me or ever tried. This is uncomfortable. Choosing to keep my mouth shut when I want to lose control is uncomfortable.
However, uncomfortable does not mean I don’t enjoy it. God is showing me how to live uncomfortable. I must say, life is good. I feel so much joy in my heart and I understand that no one on this earth can take it from me, because no one on this earth gave it to me.
When you get to this point, you realize that no problem that comes your way can steal your peace. It doesn’t matter how big the problem is because you understand that your God is bigger. When you live a life of being uncomfortable, you understand that even though I don’t know how this will turn out, I know who is in control. In knowing that, you will be able to smile in the middle of chaos.
You will be able to praise God before your prayers are answered. This uncomfortable life is called faith. A life of faith is a life of living uncomfortable. Hebrews 11:6 says that it is imposible to please God without faith.
“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6 NLT
