What’s your definition of romantic?
When I think of romance, I instantly think of Hallmark movies. Guy meets girl in a cute little bookstore or coffee shop, they make eye contact, and then bump into each other somewhere else. Finally, they fall in love and happily ever after.
However, the romance that I want to experience is a different kind of love. It’s a love only a man of God will be able to give, because he is surrendered to Christ.
In the Bible, Jacob loved Rachel so much that he pledges to his kinsman Laban to work for seven years to gain her hand in marriage. However, they tricked Jacob into marrying the other daughter Leah, but Jacob pledged to work another seven years for Rachel.
His love for her was so strong that he was willing to do whatever it took to make her his wife. In the book of Ruth, when Ruth went and laid at Boaz’s feet, he listened to her concerns and protected her purity and honor by not allowing anyone to see her leave. Also, he didn’t allow her to leave empty handed because he cared for her well being. He cared for her so much that when the other guy said he couldn’t marry Ruth, Boaz married her in order to secure her future.
A Godly man will lay down his life for his wife. In the Bible, it says a husband should love his wife as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25).
I desire a love that we can just be in eachothers’ presence and truly enjoy the company of one another. Romance isn’t about what we can receive like flowers and gifts. I believe romance is about giving, making the other person feel special. Giving doesn’t always have to be materialistic either.
I personally enjoy things that are thoughtful. I like flowers, but I would choose a handwritten letter with words from the heart over flowers any day. The thought of someone sitting in their thoughts to prepare words of affirmation for me is so amazing. I believe we all feel special when we know someone is thinking about us.
My love languages are words of affirmation and quality time. I encourage you to read the book called Five Love Languages and learn yours. This is how I receive love. It’s important to know so you can express it to your partner or just friends in general.
I will end my rant here because I just love love!!!!! I’m a lover, it makes my day to make someone else’s day.
Comment your love language, if you know yours.
Happy Wednesday!!
I love y’all!
